""The song is ended, but the melody lingers on…"" – Irving Berlin Brooke Nicholson, loving mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and aunt, died Jan. 2. She was 30. Brooke had that spark, that twinkle in her eye that made her stand out from the crowd. From the time she was a young girl she viewed the world as a place to make new friends. Words cannot express how much she will be missed by her friends and family, including more than a dozen cousins who loved ""Brookie'' for her kindness, her mischievous sense of humor, and her love of family. The light of Brooke's life was her daughter, Emma, who, like Brooke, is friendly and outgoing, with a big heart. Brooke was born May 31, 1984 in Denver. During elementary and middle school she attended St. James Catholic School in Denver and Sacred Heart of Jesus School in Boulder. She graduated from Monarch High School in Louisville in 2002, earned a business degree from the University of Colorado in 2007 and worked at CAPS Pharmacy in Denver prior to starting her career in real estate. Brooke married Hank Maxeiner in 2005, and their daughter, Emma, was born Nov. 13, 2005. Brooke leaves her daughter, Emma Maxeiner; her mother, Beth Finholm Rumbach (husband Bill); her father, Bob Nicholson (wife Linda); siblings: Danielle Zamudio (husband Ryan) and Madeleine Rumbach, and Melissa and Peter Yost; a nephew, Wesley Zamudio and nieces: Kiley, Abbey, Lily and Audrey Zamudio; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in Denver at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Brooke's family asks that contributions be made to an education fund established for Brooke's daughter, Emma, who attends Shrine of St. Anne Catholic School in Arvada.
