Bethany Waldo

February 14, 1978 — April 20, 2021

Denver

Bethany Lynn Waldo, age 43, beloved daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on April 20, 2021, in Denver, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Robert Edward McKnight and Martha Louise Sterne McKnight, her paternal grandparents, Ernest Valachovic and Lela Elizabeth Lovett Valachovic, and her beloved basset hound, fondly known to everyone as “Nuggz”.

Born on February 14, 1978, in Little Rock, Arkansas, she grew up loving dance (especially tap), visits to her grandparents’ home in Monroe, Arkansas, music, animals, and spending time with her friends.

She was a gifted mathematician, and after graduating from the University of Arkansas, she established a career as an accountant in the oil and gas industry, and held the position of senior accountant for many of the companies for which she worked. Bethany was a free spirit and loved to travel. She enjoyed the beach, but the mountains were her true calling. Eventually, she followed her heart, and relocated to Colorado, where she put down roots, became an avid Broncos fan, and met some of her dearest friends. If she became your friend, you were friends forever.

Bethany had a wonderful sense of humor, with an infectious laugh, accompanied by a fabulous set of dimples. She had gorgeous, naturally curly hair that made her older sister jealous. She was witty, and could dose out the sarcasm when she needed to make a funny point. She loved music of all genres, but especially folk music, legendary artists from the late 1960’s and 70’s, and the band Phish. Attending concerts and music festivals was one of her favorite pastimes. Bethany also had a love for horror films - especially the cheesy ones produced in the late 1980’s. She loved football and enjoyed cheering on the Hogs and Broncos every fall. It was fitting she was born on Valentine’s Day because she also had a huge heart and was always willing to go the extra mile for others. She loved her dogs more than anything. They were her only “children” and the lights of her life.

She is survived by her mother, Anne L. Johnson of North Little Rock; father and bonus-mother, Ernie and Wanda Valachovic of Benton; sister and brother-in-law, Nick and Kristen Adcock of Cabot; nephew, Will Adcock; niece, Reagan Adcock; grandmother, Sarah L. McKnight of Jonesboro; paternal aunts and uncles, Pat and Gary Crocker of Orlando, Florida, and Carol and Terry Bohannan of North Little Rock; and maternal aunt and uncle, Laura and Richard Lee of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her beloved dogs, Bogus and Winthorpe, affectionately known as “Bogie” and “Thorpie”, along with many cousins and countless friends.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at 11:00 AM, in the sanctuary of Lakewood United Methodist Church, 1922 Topf Road, North Little Rock, Arkansas, 72116, with a visitation immediately following.
