Parents Joe Ecton and Juanita Stewart preceded her in death.

Colorado native Barbara Wood passed away peacefully October 18, 2020 with family by her side.  Barbara was born and lived her entire life in Colorado.  She received a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from the University of Denver.  She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Her passion for teaching lasted for 30 years as a Denver Public Schools First Grade Teacher.  After retiring from teaching, she enjoyed working as a receptionist at a major Denver Law Firm.

Barbara married John Wood in 1973 and even though their marriage was short, John was her one true love and companion until he passed away.

Barbara loved traveling, books, theater, bridge, fine dining, and coffee!

She is survived by family members Sherry Engleberg, Parker, CO; Niece/Godchild Jennifer (Jim) Gregory, Parker, CO, and nephews Emmitt and Vincent Gregory and Ryan McKown, and niece Emily McKown.  She was known as Aunt Barbara to SO many, especially Keri Lynne and Randy Leiting and family, and she will be missed by many, many dear friends.

A Memorial in honor of Barbara will be held Friday, October 30, 2020 10:00am at Horan McConaty.  The family will host a lunch and fellowship reception immediately following at Reeds Southside Tavern, 9535 Park Meadows Dr. Unit b, Lone Tree, CO  80124.  Please email Jeni Gregory if you or a loved one would like a Zoom link to attend remotely:  jenijimgregory@gmail.com
