Arnold Sax

December 5, 1949 — April 14, 2015

Arnie waltzed into the world on December 5, 1949 to his parents George and Bertha Sax. He was the third of four rambunctious boys raised in the San Fernando Valley. Arnie's senior year of high school saw the Sax family storm into Colorado, where their family grew to include half-brother Carl and half-sister Shana. It was the summer of '69 and Arnie went on a blind date that would alter the course of history when he met his soul mate Dianna Lee Young. After years of dating and Arnie's Air Force deployment, the couple tied the knot and a few years later started a family. Anyone who knows Arnie knows how much he loved and boasted about his three kids - Stacy, Jeremy, and Megan. Stacy loved skiing with her dad, his annual trips to Chicago for the jazz festival, and considered him one of her very best friends for his ability to always make her laugh, be a sounding board for the major decisions in her life, and being her life professor for managing a larger than life personality in a sometimes delicate world. Jeremy cherished the everyday camaraderie, the hours spent listening to music, and most of all the example he lived by teaching him the meaning of being a good son, a brother that is always there, a family man, a loving husband, and a father that will support his children to no end. Megan got a tickle looking up at the sky with her Daddy-O and pondering what's out there, she adored and appreciated his enthusiasm for all of her interests (sports, yoga, art, reptiles, and reading) and will be forever grateful to him for instilling a sense of curiosity and confidence in life. The close-knit nature of the Sax family was built on the strong foundation of Arnie and Dianna's 42 year marriage. The best friends enjoyed spending time together, traveling, gardening, gambling, going to movies, and simply loved each other's company. Arnie's charisma and magnetic character attracted people to him, and building a strong personal relationship came naturally to him. Arnie was truly an empathetic friend who was glad to listen to people's stories and often responded even more emphatically than the teller. His ability to relate is unparalleled and will be missed by all! A wake will be held Monday, April 20, 7-9 PM; Funeral Mass Tuesday, April 21, 11 AM – both at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 9371 Wigham Street in Thornton.
