A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Aloys ""Boo"" Brown DeRungs passed away on Tuesday February 10th, 2015 in Denver, Colorado. Aloys was one of two children born to her parents, Frank and Ester (Sawyer) Brown in Tillamook, Oregon on September 13th, 1933. Aloys was raised in Garibaldi and Eugene, Oregon and later, after marriage, relocated to Portland, Oregon. Aloys graduated from Eugene High School and continuing her studies earning a BA in Biology from the University of Oregon after which she worked as a physical education teacher for many years. After completing her MA in Political Science from Portland State University, Aloys worked for a time at the Oregon Legislature in Salem, Oregon. Aloys rounded out her diverse career by retiring in the mid 80's from her position as an electronics technician at Tektronix in Wilsonville, Oregon. Aloys married the love of her life Arthur DeRungs in 1974 and they settled into a blended family in the West Hills of Portland, Oregon. They loved to travel and she and Arthur enjoyed visiting many famous cities of Europe together. Aloys also visited Mexico, China and Russia bringing back mementos to decorate her home. Aloys loved to read crime novels, grow Geraniums, listen to Jazz music and eat chocolate of any kind. Aloys is survived by her daughters Karen (DeRungs) Fay and Peggy (DeRungs) Gibford; Sons Max DeRungs, John DeRungs and Hollis Ransom III, grandchildren, Gwen Sipes, Sarah DeRungs, Mitchell DeRungs & Jenna DeRungs and great-grandson Ocean Sipes. Aloys was preceded in death by her husband Arthur DeRungs and her sister Kay (Brown) McCormick. Aloys will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
