Allyn Miller

September 30, 1929 — September 24, 2020

On September 24th, 2020, Allyn Joy Miller of Watkins, Colorado, age 90, died in Denver Hospice of natural causes.

Allyn was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Fern Miller (Platteville, Colorado), his brothers Roland (Platteville, Colorado) and Elton (Fort Lupton, Colorado) as well as his wife of 50 years Marlyn (Watkins, Colorado). He is survived by his sons Michael (Aurora, Colorado) and Larry and wife Clara (Watkins, Colorado) his grandson Paul and wife Sara (Lynn Haven, Florida) and his great grandson Ellingwood “Eli” (Lynn Haven, Florida)

Allyn was born on September 30, 1929, in Platteville, Colorado. He graduated from Platteville High School in 1947 and went on to attend Colorado A&M for one semester before returning to farming. He joined the army in 1951 and served full time to 1953 and was honorably discharged from the reserves in 1956.

Allyn married Maryln “Susie” Walker on September 20, 1958. They met while each was bowling in there companies leagues. They welcomed Michael in 1959 and Larry on Christmas Eve of 1961.

Allyn worked for 36 years from 1954 to 1990 for Public Service Company of Colorado. At his retirement he was the Senior Right of Way Agent for the Electric Transmission Division. After his retirement Allyn and Marlyn took numerous trips including Hawaii and the Caribbean. Allyn also loved cars, he would have to get a new car every two to three years, a trait that has been passed on to his grandson Paul. After his wife passed Allyn took trips all around the country with his son as Michael showed his Mustang at car shows. Allyn was adored by the show participates as he told stories and helped with the show judging. Allyn also loved the Bronco’s. He bought season tickets in 1969 and the family still holds those seats today. He watched quarterbacks from Steve Tensi to John Elway lead the Broncos through the bad years and the good years. Allyn was able to attend the Bronco win in Superbowl 32 with his son Michael. Allyn also got to watch the Colorado Rockies compete in the World Series in 2007 with tickets his son Larry got for him.

Allyn Joy Miller was a good husband, father, neighbor and friend and will be missed by many.

Due to Covid, the Celebration of Life Service is only for family and invited guests.
