Allen was born in Redding, IA on April 6, 1943 to Jack and Edith Campbell.  He grew up in Blockton, IA, where he delivered newspapers and worked on the farm. He was in Boy Scouts and had many friends. He graduated from Bedford High School in 1961  While there he played basketball, football, baseball and ran track. He met Sandy Goudie at school. They married in May of 1963 and moved from Iowa to Colorado. Allen worked in the heating and air conditioning business all of his adult life. He started his own business, Allen’s Heating, AC and Sheet Metal in 1988 and managed it for the next 34 years. Allen and Sandy have attended Arvada United Methodist Church for 54 years.

Allen enjoyed spending time with his family both near and far. He has been described as “a champion for family connections.” He started the Campbell family reunions in 1978. They still continue every 3 years.  Over the years he attended piano recitals, scouting events, soccer and basketball games, horse shows, gymnastic events, cross country and track meets, supporting his children and grandchildren.. He also enjoyed going out to eat, golfing, baking and making Holiday fudge, traveling, watching and going to NASCAR races, playing slot machines and card games with friends. Allen had many friends and social groups.  He liked to plan and participate in fun activities. He had quite a sense of humor, loved excitement and adventure. Going to Arizona when it was cold in Colorado was a highlight for him. He was happily married to Sandy for 59 years.
