Alice Jean Jacob

It is with profound sadness that the family of Alice Jean “Jeanie” Jacob announces her peaceful passing on Valentines Day at the age of 97. Originally from Cabery, Illinois, she moved to Colorado in 2004 to be near family. Jeanie is survived by her two children Marilyn (Rob) and Roger (Cathy) and her two grandchildren Todd (Nicole) and Adam (Lori). Additionally, she is survived by 7 great grandchildren, Tate, Jacob, Taylor, Nick, Talon, Elizabeth and Ty. Jeanie was predeceased by her loving husband, Paul who passed in 2007.

Shortly after the end of WWII, Jeanie married her husband Paul of 57 years. She then spent 37 years teaching 4th grade at Chebanse Elementary School. While teaching, she also raised her husband and 2 children. She enjoyed basketball and was an avid fan of the Chicago Bulls, and the NBA in general. Upon retirement, Jeanie loved to travel. She was a snowbird of 2 separate flocks and often wintered in either Arizona or Florida. Jeanie’s list of friends extended across the country. She was proud of the fact she been to Europe and loved to experience cruises. Her last cruise journey was to view glaciers in Alaska where she could have used some assistance packing as she arrived with mostly short sleeved shirts and shorts.

Jeanie was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important- The simplicity of living a life with those you love. She was known for her jokes and her story telling. She was sharp as a tack and completed crossword puzzles until her last few years. Jeanie loved spending time with her family and friends and will be missed by all who had the gift of knowing her.

The family would like to thank Diane for her care and compassion as well as Michael for his friendship and companionship.

At Jeanie’s request, no service is being held at this time. However, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
