Yer Kiatoukaysy Lor

May 20, 1958 — May 19, 2020

It is with deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of Yer Kiatoukaysy Lor, 61, of Westminster, Colorado. The beloved husband and father peacefully passed away on May 19, 2020, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Laos on May 20, 1958 to Xia Soua Lor and May Lee, and grew up with twelve older siblings. Yer is survived by his wife, Meevang and children, Shoua, Shao (Txue Pa Yang), Xhoua (Nancy Vang), Thaxia (Douasong Xiong), Huneth (Mitch Lor-Fair), Shaneth, Junior; seven grandchildren; and his brother, Ntxiaj Fong and sister, Cher. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and ten siblings.

Yer had a passion for mentoring people, which he pursued as Teacher and Regional Principal in Laos. He, his wife, and oldest son emigrated from Laos to the United States, and settled in Denver, Colorado in 1981 to live the American Dream. Yer was a hardworking skilled trade professional spending his career at Keebler, Wonder Bread, and Bimbo Bakeries. He was also an entrepreneur, and opened a gas station with his wife in Brighton, Colorado. Beyond all of these achievements, Yer will be remembered as a humble, dynamic, and valiant person who held the highest integrity and compassion in life.

Yer was known for his deep love and dedication to family, notably marked by relentlessly inspiring and motivating his children to achieve continuous success. During the spring, you could find him with his wife traveling through the Great Plains fishing with his homemade lures; and in the Rockies hunting pheasant, duck, and elk throughout the autumn. He had a passion for training and caring for his Labradors, and brought them along to participate in the outdoor activities. Yer spent every moment mastering his craft in the garden growing various vegetables; peach and plum trees; and herbs and chili peppers to nourish his family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks people to plant something in their garden to memorialize his legacy.

Limited visitation will be between 11:00am-1:00pm MDT on Monday, June 8, 2020 at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado, 80229. The family wants to especially thank the staff at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette, Colorado where he received care.

Please share your memories of Yer and condolences with his family by signing the guestbook below.
