William Peterson Nelson

Preceded in death by his adored parents WL Jack and Margaret Nelson, his cherished sisters Peggy Alexander and Patricia Coleman and his beloved wife Nancy Mayer Nelson to whom he was married for 58 years.

Pete’s enduring love of the stock market spanned nearly 60 years. Born in 1937 he received a B. A. Degree from the University of Texas in 1959 and then attended the Graduate School of Business Administration at Harvard University before beginning his Investment career at the of Bank of New York in 1961.  Six years later, he joined First Trust Corporation in Denver as Director of Research. From 1967 to 1983 Pete worked at First Trust as Managing Partner and Senior Portfolio Manager until the firm of Nelson, Benson and Zellmer was founded where he held the positions of President, Senior Portfolio Manager and Chairman of the Board before spinning off where he, Linda Tanabe Heifets, and Carol Tanabe Aragon started their own firm, Peneco Investments  from 1997 to 2023.
