William Rogers Miller

William Rogers Miller, 79, passed away August 19, 2015 in Colorado. Bill is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce Croley Miller, sons Bradley William Miller (Dawn) and Bentley Alan Miller, Sr. (Kelsey), sisters Mary Francis Shores (Dan) and Dorothy Thomas (George), 7 adoring grandchildren and 7 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Doris Powell (Wes) and brother Edward Miller (Eva). Bill was born in Warrior, Al. son of Lee and Wister Champion Miller. He grew up in Panama City, Fl. graduating from Bay County High School in 1954, and always considered himself a ""Parker Boy."" Following high school, he completed studies at Chipola Jr. College and Troy State College earning a Bachelor of Science Degree, and later earned a Master of Arts Degree from Pepperdine University. After earning his degree, Bill initially taught high school math and science in Wewahitchka, FL. before being commissioned in 1960 as an officer in the United States Air Force. Bill served 21 years in the military, including a combat tour in Southeast Asia in 1973, and eventually retired from active duty in 1981 having earned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After retiring from the military, Bill continued to contribute to our national defense, working as a systems analyst with Boeing Aerospace on defense programs until retiring in 1996. In addition to his national service, for the past 33 years, Bill owned and operated a highly successful property management business with his wife, Joyce. Bill enjoyed fishing, baseball, softball, racquetball, sailing but most of all being with his family. He was admired and loved by all who knew him for his kindness, honesty and supportive spirit. He was a member of Father Dyer United Methodist Church in Breckenridge, Co. Interment will be on Wednesday, 26 Aug 2015 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Co. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Disabled American Veterans in Bill's memory at PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301.
