William ""Bill"" Lawrence Keating, 70, passed away on January 1, 2015. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Bill was born November 22, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois the son of a Chicago Fire Chief, James Keating (deceased) and a Chicago public school teacher, Margaret Keating (deceased). He was predeceased by his brother Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary, son, Michael, daughter, Katie, granddaughter, Ainsley and brother, James. Bill was raised in Chicago and earned a BA from the University of Michigan. Mary and Bill moved to Colorado after Bill was drafted by the Denver Broncos. After a time specializing in running, blocking and tackling, he attended the University of Denver College of Law, earning his JD in 1971. Following graduation, he was a judicial clerk in the 10th Circuit for Honorable Robert McWilliams. He was a founder partner of Keating Wagner Polidori Free. For over forty years he dedicated his professional life to helping those in need. Bill was president of the Colorado Trial Lawyers from 1991-1992. Marsh Award from DU Law which is presented to a DU Law graduate in recognition of outstanding accomplishment throughout the recipient's career. Rarely far from one another, Bill and Mary traveled the world. Ever active, Bill pursued his passion of bicycling by pedaling up one hill and down another -repeating as necessary. Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved his family, friends, storytelling and his bicycle. He will be missed by all of us who were so lucky to have known him. Bill was that rare person who brought others together, who without reservation shared his knowledge and love of law and the human connection.
