William "Bill" L.
Owen
May 8, 1942 — Sep 12, 2026
Denver
William Leo Owen, born May 8, 1942, in Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, at the Health Center at Franklin Park in Denver. He was 84. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Suzanne.
Bill’s greatest joy in life was his family. He is survived by his daughter, Cassandra “Cassie” Dowdell, and her husband, Rich, of Denver; his brother, Bob Owen, and his wife, Susie, of Arvada, Colorado; and his sister, Sherrie Lundgren, and her husband, Kent, of Yakima, Washington. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. His family was the center of his world, and he always made them feel special and loved.
Bill loved animals of all kinds and supported animal-rescue organizations.
Bill was known for his loyalty, strength, and kindness—whether offering a helping hand, protecting his family, or being there for a friend. Whenever there was a need, Bill was there.
He was a man to be reckoned with. He was intelligent, strong, fearless, and sometimes scary, yet also kind and gentle. He possessed an offbeat sense of humor that was uniquely his own.
Professionally, Bill served as maintenance director at Hexacomb and Cryenco, Inc., both in Denver. Before that, he owned and operated his own glass business.
Bill served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. He was stationed at Bien Hoa, Vietnam, with a combat engineer battalion. Bill received the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and a Sharpshooter badge. He was honorably discharged.
Bill’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and profound loyalty to family, friends, and country. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Horan & McConaty, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado. A reception will follow at noon.
Bill will then be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
