William “Bill” Leo McQuillan, 76, passed away on December 4, 2024 in Lakewood, CO. Bill was born September 11, 1948 to James “Jim” and Mary Kay (Clinch) McQuillan. He graduated from Greeley Sacred Heart High School in 1966. He graduated from Creighton University in 1973 with a business degree. He spent six years serving in the Army Reserve. After graduation, he worked at Omaha National Bank before moving to Broken Bow, NE. He then worked in Palisade, CO for six years before moving back to Greeley, NE and follow in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps. He would eventually become the President & CEO of City National Bank and worked until his retirement in 2012.
In 1974, Bill met his future wife, Patricia “Patty” Caffrey and they were united in marriage on July 12th of that same year at Saint Bonaventure in Columbus, Nebraska. They were married for 49 years and from their union were blessed with four children. They made their home in Greeley for 31 years before moving to Tucson, AZ in 2016. In 2023, they moved to Lakewood, CO to be closer to their kids and grandkids.
The accolades and achievements in his professional banking career were numerous, but his greatest achievement was being a father to his four children. He was also an avid sports fan of Nebraska football and Creighton Bluejay basketball.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Pat and Bob. He is survived by his wife, Patty, and his four children: Pat (Rachel) of Mequon, WI, Brian (Jacque) of Council Bluffs, IA, Chris (Heather) of Holdrege, NE and Kim (Dan) Huffman of Lakewood, CO. He is also survived by his ten beloved grandchildren: Audrie, Jackson, Lizzie, Max, Keegan, Fallyn, Maura, Winnie, Cullen and Dillon. He is survived by his two sisters, Karen and Kathy and two brothers, Mike and Tom, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
