William Zane Begano of Grand Junction passed away at his home on November 9, 2022. He was 83.
Bill was born on May 2, 1939 in Trinidad, Colorado, to John Robert and Thelma Lucille (Barron) Begano. He grew up in Starkville, Colorado and graduated from Trinidad High School. Bill enlisted in the US Army, and served at both Ft. Carson Colorado and Ft. Riley Kansas. On May 21, 1965, he married the love of his life, Jean, in Denver. They lived in Denver, Arvada, and Broomfield before settling in Grand Junction.
Bill spent most of his working career in the outdoor advertising business, working for both Gannett and CBS. Bill enjoyed spending free time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his son Troy and his grandson Zane. Bill was very creative and loved decorating for Christmas, for which he won several awards and was written up in the newspaper for many years.
Bill is survived by his wife Jean, his son William Troy and daughter-in-law Tracy Lynn, both of Grand Junction; grandson Zane Thomas, US Navy; sister Darlene J. Myers of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Robert and Thelma Lucille; brothers, John T., James F., Robert L., Donald G., and Charles E.; and sisters, Clivene F. Moline, and Thelma L. Wishar.
A military honors service will take place at Ft. Logan National Cemetery on April 27, 2023 at 11:15am.
