William John Aberle (Bill), age 96, passed away at AdventHealth Littleton Hospital on November 5, 2025.
Bill was an easy-going individual who was always available to lend a helping hand.
Bill was born in Selfridge, North Dakota and grew up on the family farm near Belle Fouche, South Dakota. He served in the Air Force as a young adult and began his civilian life in the Black Hills area. He met the love of his life, LaVonne, in the late 1950s, and married her in 1961. They settled in Rapid City after the birth of their daughter, Maren. Bill was an office manager at a trucking company when he was transferred to Littleton, Colorado in the late 1960s. His son, Kevin, was born soon after and Bill and LaVonne raised their family. Upon retirement from the trucking industry, Bill took up ballroom dancing with his wife, delighted in time with family which then included granddaughters and eventually great-grandkids. He also drove cars for Avis Budget as a part-time gig.
Bill enjoyed fixing, driving, growing and building things. Whether restoring a classic car and taking it to car shows, planting a garden and seeing it flourish, or building a shed and keeping it low enough to not arouse suspicion of the HOA, Bill would complete it all with success. Combined with his willingness to always help where needed, Bill was indispensable to those who knew him.
Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty years, LaVonne. He is survived by daughter Maren Buckley (Clay), son Kevin, granddaughters Elizabeth Buckley (Ryan Murphy), Carolyn Buckley (Johnny Egger), Julia Ranum (Garrett), great-grandchildren Lucy Quinn, Valerie Lynn, Mason Christopher and Daisy Marie (arriving Spring 2026), brother Joseph Aberle (Genevieve), sister Jennie Staud, sisters-in-law Selma Thompson and Rosemarie Aberle and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will take place at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Friday, November 21st at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow. Burial will be at Chapel Hill at 2:00 PM.
