Wilbur Lee Fleming

Wilbur “Will" Lee Fleming passed away peacefully May 17, 2024 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.  He was born March 12, 1936 to Wray and Helen (Townsend) Fleming in Bloomfield, Iowa. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1954. On June 14, 1959, he married Donna Robinson. He received his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State Teachers College and master’s degree from University of Colorado.  Will had a long teaching career teaching math for over 55 years starting in Bennett, Iowa where he met his wife.  In the early 60s he moved to Arvada, Colorado with his wife and young girls.  He was a dedicated teacher, teaching math for 50 years in Broomfield, Colorado at Broomfield Junior High and Broomfield High School, along with tutoring generations of kids in his free time. Will was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.   He loved camping with his family, riding dirt bikes, skiing and after retirement, travelling around the country with his wife in their motor home.  His other interests consisted of home improvements and landscaping for his home and those of family and friends. Will, with his wife, supported their daughters and grandsons in everything they did from volunteering as road marshals on Bike MS rides to attending and participating in his grandsons’ marching band endeavors. He is survived by daughters Sheryl Fleming and Lee Ann Fleming Cottingham; grandsons Christopher (Jesse) Lujano-Cottingham and Kyle (Kassidi) Cottingham; great grandsons Kris, Andrew, and Quinton as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, his parents, and his brothers and sisters, Leroy, Jack and Bob Fleming; Helen Hart, Christine Spurgeon, Charlotte Waybill and Pat Armstrong.  Services are 11:00 July 26, 2024, at Horan & McConaty, 7577 W. 80th Avenue, (at Wadsworth Blvd.), Arvada, CO 80003. The family requests casual dress for the services.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Parkinson’s Association of the Rockies, parkinsonrockies.org.
