Walt Ruckman, a native Denverite, passed away with his kids by his side on February 29, 2016. He joined many beloved friends and relatives preceding him in death. He is survived by three children: Christopher Ruckman (Maureen), Debbie Grabarek (Steve), and Linda Briggs (Patrick Swift); two grandchildren, Eric Briggs (Brenda) and Kevin Grabarek and two great-grandchildren, James and Sarah Briggs. He was a beloved Uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Lillian Ruckman, wife Phyllis J. Ruckman, and one brother Arthur Ruckman. Walt had many adventures in life. He talked of skipping school to go see Frank Sinatra with the Dorsey Orchestra at the Orpheum theater in downtown Denver. He was in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946, married and divorced and had two girls, Linda and Debbie. He later married Phyllis Barrett and together they had one son, Chris. He enjoyed camping and traveling with family and friends, being together with his brother Art, watching the Broncos and playing pickles at the Elks #17 in Denver where he was a life time member. In his early years he had his own truck and delivered for Vincent Syrup and Associated Grocers. He later worked at Dixon Paper (International Paper) as a warehouseman and retired in 1995 from the paper company. He made many long lasting friendships while employed there and mentored several co-workers. Family was the center of his life. He loved everyone dearly and friends became part of the family. Walt will be missed by all who knew him...family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. He was a great husband, father, uncle and grandfather to all. As he would say, ""We may not be the best but we are pretty damn good!"" Hotsy Totsy!
