Vernon Charles (Bud) Dusek, 92, died at his home in Westminster, Colorado on October 18, 2022. Bud graduated from Blue Hill (Nebraska) High School in 1948 and immediately after graduation, joined the Army. He served for more than 3-1/2 years, including time spent in Korea during the Korean War. Bud went through the apprenticeship program for teletype printing and worked for almost 30 years as a printer at The Rocky Mountain News, a former Denver daily newspaper. Following his retirement from the newspaper, Bud worked with a group of retirees to fulfill the many demands of providing tours of the production facility for The News. Additionally, he worked a number of years as a “handyman” exhibiting his amazing skills and talents at every kind of “fix it” job.
Bud married Doris Webb in 1952, fostered six children and adopted two children as infants. He and Doris divorced in 1977. Later in 1977, mutual friends introduced him to Connie (Wadhams) Pritts at a square dance club, which began a long-lasting romance. Bud and Connie were married on April 19, 1992.
Some of Bud’s favorites included: fishing, camping, traveling, poker and Blackjack, frequent visits to a cabin he and Connie own and football at every level from “pee wee” to professionals. He participated in coaching young men in high school with his stepson, Kurt, and was a forever Denver Broncos fan. Bud never met a stranger and touched the lives of so many throughout his life as a most giving and caring man.
Bud is survived by his wife, Connie; one daughter, Laura (Billy) Eads, St. Louis, MO; two stepsons, Randy (Melody) Pritts, Conroe, TX; Kurt (Kelly) Pritts, Parker, CO and a stepdaughter, Candace (Craig) McCormick, Parker, CO, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one sister and one brother, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and a son, David Dusek.
