Verla Jean Watson

Verla Jean Watson, 58, of Arvada, Colorado, passed away on March 23, 2024. She was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma cancer in 2021, and while her final treatment freed her of the cancer, the treatment side effects became unmanageable.

Verla was born on June 3, 1965, to Melvin and Violet Thayer in Hastings, Nebraska. She is preceded in death by her parents, and father in-law Clarence Watson. She is survived by her beloved husband, Randall Watson; her daughter, Nichol Watson; brother, Stan Thayer (Janet Broderson); mother in-law, Norma Pingry; sister in-law, Michelle Olena (Kurt Olena); brother in-law, James Watson; and many nieces and nephews.

Verla moved to Colorado and married the love of her life, Randall on June 30, 1981, and soon after had their only child, Nichol. She had a huge heart, vibrant personality, and radiated light. She had an immense passion for her family, loved to tend to her colorful garden, fishing, and loved to get down on the dance floor - she had some iconic dance moves!

She exemplified the best of qualities, had an unconditional love and loyalty for her family, and dedication to her work. Verla worked as an executive assistant, most recently at GIA Insurance and previously at TruGreen ChemLawn (Evergreen Lawns). Throughout her decades of dedication to her work, she forged friendships to last an eternity. 

Her departure comes with great sadness and a profound wound, and it is deeply felt by her family and friends who loved her dearly. The family genuinely appreciates your support during this difficult time and asks that in lieu of flowers, make a contribution to her Memorial Fund.
