Velma Starr age 91 of Littleton Colorado passed away December 1, 2014 surrounded by her sons. Born to the late Harvey and Audlea Taylor in Colorado Springs, Colorado, loving wife and partner to Frank O. Starr, II for 49 years; Velma was a loving, protective and nurturing mother of six sons. Velma is survived by five sons, Frank III, Jay ( wife Stacy), Kim (wife Susan), Jon (wife) Martha and Todd (wife Pam). Velma enjoyed a close relationship with her eight grandchildren which brought her great joy. She also has two great grandchildren. Having been preceded in death by her husband, Frank, her son, Mark, her parents and two sisters, Lois Elaine Braby and Maida Leone Seline, she is also survived by two brothers, Garold W. Taylor of Oklahoma and Robert E. Taylor of Alabama. Velma, an active member of the Community of Christ Church and patron of Graceland University was a woman of God as expressed through her compassion, giving and nurturing acts. Velma resided in Washington, D.C. where her late husband worked for the Eisenhower administration before embarking on a career in banking which would find them making homes in Detroit, Michigan; Omaha, Nebraska; and Lakewood, Colorado. Velma, a drum majorette at Culver Stockton College and later a singer with the Frank Osteen Symphonettes carried a song in her heart and loved to dance. When the Starr's were not traveling the world they were entertaining at their home. Her home was always full of love and open to many. A Memorial Service to honor her life will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2014, 10:30am, Community of Christ Church, 1695 E Orchard Rd, Greenwood Village, CO 80121.
