Velia Sanchez

Velia, 94, of Thousand Oaks, California, formerly of Denver, Colorado passed October 9, 2014. Velia was born, February 1, 1920 in Kansas City, Missouri. Throughout her life, in her free time, she enjoyed cooking, especially Mexican food, travel, and camping. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sanchez, Sr.; daughter, Patricia (Patty) Garcia; and brother, Alfred Garcia. Velia is survived by her children, Robert (Bob) Sanchez, Jr., Theresa (Terry), and William (Bill); 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and siblings, Martin Garcia & Frank Garcia. Recitation of the Rosary will be said Sunday, October 19, 2014, 5:00 PM, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, October 20, 2014, 10:30 AM, Notre Dame Catholic Church, 2190 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado. Committal Service follows at 12:00 Noon, Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area ""A"", 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado 80235. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Alzheimer's Association of Colorado, 455 Sherman Street, # 500, Denver, Colorado 80203.
