Twyla May Lance, 60, of Thornton, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2026. A native of Westminster, Colorado, she graduated from Westminster High School in 1984. She earned an Associate's degree from Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri in 1986. In 2002, she graduated cum laude from the School for Professional Studies at Regis University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She began her career as a real estate closer and later held a number of senior accountant and consulting positions, performing oil and gas joint interest billing, financial reporting, receivership tasks, and other accounting services. She worked for Duke Energy Field Services, SM Energy, the City of Fort Collins, Metco Landscaping, and other companies and clients.

For most of her early life, she attended Westminster Presbyterian Church, where her mother served as secretary for 25 years, and participated in many church activities. Later, she was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church of Longmont, where she sang in the choir, played handbells, and served on the leadership team. Most recently, she was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Fort Collins, where she served as a deacon and Stephen minister.

Twyla is survived by her husband of 24 years, Thomas Lance, and her brother, Cecil Woolley, of Westminster. She leaves behind a circle of dear friends who will always remember her commitment to professional integrity, her love of travel, her affection for animals, and above all her kindness and generosity.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 31, at Summit of Peace Lutheran Church, 4661 E. 136th Ave., Thornton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Denver Hospice Inpatient Care Center, 8289 E. Lowry Blvd., Denver, CO 80230.
