Christina Lowery, 68, of Westminster, Colorado, entered Heaven on Christ's birthday, December 25, 2014. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Richard; mother, Muriel Cowgill originally from Loves Park, IL; sister, Conney Straley of Eldridge IA; children, Christopher (Erica Wymore) Lowery of Denver, Marc (Erin) Lowery of Mission Hills, KS, and Erin (Brian) Heltshe of Denver; and grandchildren, Ava and Luke Lowery, Drew Lowery, Tatum and Jameson Heltshe - all whom she cherished very much. She is preceded in death by her sister, Sarah Dargene; and father, Kenneth Cowgill. Christina was born in Rockford, IL on October 3, 1946 to Kenneth and Muriel Cowgill, where she was a 1964 graduate of Harlem High School. She married Richard Lowery, also a Harlem graduate, 48 years ago on December 31, 1966. She graduated as a registered nurse from Michael Reese School of Nursing in Chicago in 1967. Being in the Army, they lived in Karlsruhe, Germany from 1967-1969. She then raised three children while living in Oak Forest, IL and later Casper, WY. Christina worked as an RN for Michael Reese Hospital on the Pediatric Unit, at NewCare providing care to homebound and hospice patients in Casper, and later as a pediatrics nurse at Hammond Clinic in St. John, IN. Upon retirement, she settled in the Denver area and was very active in her church and community. Christina was a very caring wife, sister, mother and grandmother, and dear friend to many. She particularly enjoyed gardening, traveling, and reading mystery novels. Very active in her church Spirit of Christ in Arvada, CO, she was a true example of living selflessly. She was compassionate to friend and stranger alike. We would like to remember Christina for her love, forgiveness, compassion and peace. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 10, 2015, 10 AM, Spirit of Christ Catholic Community Chapel, 7400 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado, with a luncheon reception immediately following.
