Timothy "Timmy" Alan Striby was born on December 9, 1956 to Joe and Pat Striby in Indianapolis Indiana. Due to problems during his mom’s pregnancy, Timmy was born with severe brain damage which left him handicapped. Timmy never spoke a word or took one step. At the time Timmy was not expected to live very long. But he beat the odds and lived a beautiful life for 69 years, 2 months, and two days. He left us on February 11, 2026 to take his place in Heaven with Jesus, mom and dad, his little sister Ann Celeste.
Timmy was God’s angel even though he was entirely dependent and bedridden for his entire life. He had a way of touching people. He had a hundred different sounds to convey what he was thinking and how he felt. He always had a hug with both strength and softness that you didn’t want to end. He simply gave his love to everyone. Timmy’s dad always said Timmy was God’s gift and joy to be with.
His brother Joe and Joe’s wife Susie moved him to Littleton, Colorado in July of 2013, and for 12 and a half years had the pleasure of living the rest of his life with him. Many have said he was lucky to have them, but no…they were lucky to have Timmy, and he lit up every day.
His handicap and frailty aside, he was the strongest man we ever knew. He had the ability to openly live his entire life with respect, trust, kindness, patience, compassion, understanding, confidence, helpfulness, sympathy, and total acceptance of everyone. He could lift anyone’s spirit with a gentle touch and hug, and a look from his beautiful brown eyes that would melt your heart.
He was a pure soul…and pure love without question. He was perfect.
Timmy has two sisters, Maria and Lisa, and five brothers, Joe, Jim, Frank, Gerard and Steve. We will all miss his beauty, his strength, his touch, and his quiet bravery.
Timmy will be laid to rest beside his mom and dad in Indianapolis.
A Recitation of the Rosary will be held Monday, February 16, 2026, 6pm, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood.
