Thomas Elbert Hicks
February 15, 1965 — August 2, 2018
Thomas Elbert Hicks, 53, of Watkins, CO passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at his residence. A native of Waukegan, IL, he was the son to Hurshel R. Hicks and the late Lucille J. Sutton.
Tom was a talented hockey player turned revered hockey coach, and he supported the growth and development of girls’ hockey in Colorado. A modern frontiersman and self-proclaimed “Mountain Dude,"" Tom also loved the outdoors-whether caring for plants and grounds with his lawn & landscaping business or exploring the national parks of the west.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven M. Nunag Hicks; brother, Coy H. Hicks; and nephew, Derek A. Hicks.
In addition to his father he leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 33 years, Jocelyn Nunag Hicks; daughter and son-in-law, Candace R. Nunag TardÃo and Caleb J. TardÃo; sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte J. Roth and Henry J. Roth; several beloved nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service to honor the life of Thomas Elbert Hicks will be conducted at 2:30 PM, Monday, August 6, 2018, at East Alameda Church of Christ Church, 13605 E. Alameda Ave., Aurora, CO 80012. A reception to celebrate Thomas' life will immediately follow at his sister's home, 6616 East Prentice Ave., Greenwood Village, CO 80111.
