Theresa Kovacs

Theresa Sophie Kovacs passed away peacefully on February 4, 2023, at the age of 88.

She was born in Hungary in 1934 and survived the aftermath of World War II with her parents, four siblings and other family. She met the love of her life at age 16 and they have been together ever since. Together they escaped from Hungary during the Hungarian Revolution in 1956. In order to stay together during that tumultuous time they knew they had to be married. As they escaped from Hungary they were married in Graz, Austria on the way to their new home in the United States.

An early adopter of technology (smile), she worked for Ford Motor Company as a keypunch operator! Later in life she enjoyed being a sales associate for Abraham & Straus in Woodbridge, NJ; The Ranch in Groton, MA; and Boscov’s in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

She was a devoted mother and wife. Loved by everyone who met her, she will be missed for her genuine affection for people. There was never a lack of food for anyone who came to her home. She was never one to hide her opinions and was always willing to have a spirted discussion.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen Sr., and her two children and their spouses, Peter Kovacs and Tony Holt, and Stephen and Janet Kovacs.

A memorial will be held at Horan and McConaty, 7577 W. 80th Avenue, Arvada, CO 80003 on February 10 at 2pm.
