Terry Ann Hand

Teresa Ann Hand, or "Terry" as she was known for most of her life, passed away July 27th, 2026 in Aurora, Colorado.

Terry was born on January 4, 1950 in Denver, Colorado to William and Sadie Hand. She was the second of six children. She lived most of her life in Colorado and had a great love for the Centennial State. From Tiny Town to Poudre Canyon, and from Fairplay to Ft Morgan, Terry was a Colorado girl, through and through.

Terry had a great love for children. She worked as a clerk at Sidecreek Elementary for many years before retiring in 2014. She signed up to be a foster parent in 1992, and cared for more than 20 children over the years, welcoming them into her home and loving them through their struggles. She volunteered as a CASA and mentored children in meaningful ways. “Aunt Terry” was a lot of fun to her nieces and nephews, hosting tea parties, making fairy gardens, and even letting them splash in a mud puddle in her backyard.

Terry was a very talented quilter. She made hundreds of quilts, and took great joy in gifting them to her friends and family, and even those in need. She was a member of the quilt group, "We Bees and Wanna Bees," for many years and found much joy, friendship, and quilting inspiration from the ladies there. Terry was also a brilliant crafter. Her creativity was abundant as she sewed, glued, and otherwise finagled various materials into whimsical creations.

Terry was passionate about the environment and recycling. She also loved Wysocki puzzles, soap operas, Diet Pepsi, iced tea, Tombstone pizza and Star Wars. And oh, how she loved all things miniature. Her home was filled with shelves and dollhouses, full of tiny things. Terry was an avid reader. There was always a book within arms reach.

Terry had a daughter named Sarah. Sarah was the Joy of her life, as were son-in-law Cameron, and grandchildren Sadie, Henry, Eleanor, and Zoey Jane. Terry loved being a grandma and sharing her hobbies with the kids.

A memorial service will be held in Terry’s honor on Thursday, August 6th at 7:00pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 4701 S. Chambers Road, Aurora, CO 80015
