Terry (Teresa) M. Follett passed away peacefully at the age of 67 after a very long, courageous, and hard-fought battle with cancer on February 6, 2026, in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. She was born in Laramie, Wyoming on May 4, 1958, and was raised in Walden, Colorado a small town in North Park.

Both sides of her family came from ranching backgrounds and she loved her days working on various ranches. She often said she would not trade where she was raised, getting to be outside with nature and animals a lot, and having the constant beauty of the mountain ranges surrounding her.

In her early years, besides ranching and loving animals, she played basketball, played flute in band and a jazz band, was a Rodeo Queen, and received the Outstanding Senior Girl award.

After graduating high school in Walden, she attended Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colorado, and later transferred to Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. She studied pre-veterinary science, but ultimately took a different path. She studied with a Professor to hike and study raptors, which she often referred to as the best job she ever had. She worked and Anheuser Busch in Fort Collins, Colorado, and owned her own pet sitting business.

With her extensive science background, she then entered a several-year stint at Hewlett Packard in Loveland, Colorado, working in their labs. In 1991, she made a career transition and attended Denver Paralegal Institute. She continued to live in the Denver metro area the rest of her life. Her first legal job was with the law firm of Cooper & Kelly - (later Kennedy & Christopher) - working in litigation, primarily with Professional Malpractice cases. She also worked in litigation for several years at both White & Steele and Wheeler, Trigg & Kennedy. Later she entered the Biotechnology arena working as a paralegal at both Sirna and Covidien in Boulder, Colorado and ended her career working on Government patents at Holland & Hart in Boulder.

In her free time during her professional years, she enjoyed hiking, biking, snow skiing, playing softball on various leagues, going on movies, attending sporting events, concerts, plays, and musicals, and spending time with family and friends. She loved being outdoors and definitely had a "green thumb" when it came to plants. She continued to enjoy many of these activities after retirement, but the dominant amount of her time was spent travelling when possible. She was able to see a lot of North American and many parts of the world, with highlights being New Zealand, Scotland, Iceland, Hawaii, Bora Bora, too many countries & cities in Europe to mention, the many trips to Ireland, the sailing adventure around the Bahamas with friends and no set itinerary, visiting Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall and managing to see both the East and West, several cruises, and all of the trips taken with family and friends and the experiences each of those situations brought to her.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Joan McNamara Follett and Leroy Follett, and brother Delbert Follett, all of Walden, Colorado, as well as grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is survived by her Partner of 35 years, Laura Jane Beard of Colden, Colorado; brother Dan Follett and wife Dian of Kerrville, Texas; brother Denton Follett and wife Amy Tye, and nephew Quin Follett and fiancé Jessica Yost of Ogden, Utah; brother Dean Follett adn wife Karen, and nephew Ethan Follett of Powell, Wyoming; in-laws Roy and Denise Beard of Round Rock, Texas; Rich Beard of Round Rock, Texas; Beth, David, Mason, and Riggs Quinn of Trophy Club, Texas; and numerous cousins, extended family members, and friends.

She will be remembered as a kind, loving, caring, patient, strong, happy, and positive person with a calming nature and gentle soul, witty humor, and fun-loving spirit. She was usually smiling and full of hope, and also had a keen zest for knowledge. There are so many people that will miss her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Horan & McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO, 80227, on Saturday, April 18, 2026. A Lunch Reception will conclude the event. The ceremony will also be live streamed at the link to be provided below.
