Ted Anthony Stigall of Denver, Colorado, passed away from complications related to lymphoma and chemotherapy treatment on August 16, 2026, at the age of 64. He attended Holy Family High School in North Denver, ultimately graduating from Jefferson High School in 1980. Ted had an accomplished career in home improvement and commercial plumbing and heating until retirement in 2024. He worked hard and was frequently called in to use his skills as a master plumber to tackle projects for the extended family. But as much as he loved overseeing a project, work was just one of his many interests.

Ted dedicated much of his life—in his youth as well as with his children and grandchildren—to Scouting. He reached the rank of Life Scout as a teen and, ultimately, helped his son reach the rank of Eagle Scout as Scout Master of Troop 65 of Edgewater, Colorado. The skills he learned in Scouting remained important to him throughout his life, especially when he could share them with others. He took great joy in woodworking and refinishing, building everything from furniture to flower boxes or restoring antique clocks and cabinets. The large workshop behind his house was always in use for something or other, with a layer of sawdust coating every surface, and the radio playing classic rock.

Like many native Coloradans, Ted’s appreciation for the mountains ran deep. He found peace in camping, fishing, shooting and all things outdoors. He particularly loved to spend time with his wife at the family cabin in Devil’s Gulch just outside Estes Park, Colorado. Spending days in the mountains with little access to the outside world was his favorite way to relax, fishing in the creek or swapping stories with the family that came by to get away for the day. He was also an accomplished photographer, constructing a dark room in his house once the kids had moved out. And despite his towering stature that might suggest otherwise, he loved to dance. On first meeting, Ted might appear stoic and impassive, but acquaintances quickly became friends as they realized his multitude of interests, ranging from history, to Star Wars and Western films, to collecting every book ever written by Stephen King.

Ted is survived by his wife, MaryAnne; their son, James Anthony; daughter, Pamela Marie Vigil; grandsons, Braydn Arthur, Ethan Jacob, Harrison James; great-grandson, Mason James; son-in-law, Bill; and daughter-in-law, Jamie. He is also survived by sister Celeste Martinez, brother James Jude, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by parents Florence Gertrude and Homer Roy. He will be terribly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him, to receive one of his thoughtful gifts, or to have his willing hands ready to help at the first call. Ted was the cornerstone of many family memories, even in his later years when his health had not allowed him to hand-craft gifts or arrange group outings or camping adventures. His absence will be a hole in all our lives.

Memorial Service will take place at 1pm on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Horan & McConaty in Arvada, Colorado.
