Sylvia Deborah Prowse, 87, loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend found peace with her Lord and Saviour on May 1, 2026.

Sylvia was born in Flagtown, New Jersey on September 18, 1938, and was the daughter of the late Otto and Anna Spino.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her loving husband Simon Joseph Prowse and her brother Paul Spino.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory is her nephew Daren Prokopwich and his wife Audrey, Bethlehem, PA, nieces Kimberly Gaboda, Raritan, NJ, Kelly Spino, Wall, NJ, Kathleen Spino, Raritan, NJ, Simmone Kosensky, Manville, NJ and Andrea Thorne, Bethlehem, PA.

She graduated from Bound Brook High School in Bound Brook, NJ. She attended Drake College and Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ and received the Degree of Bachelor Arts, Magna Cum Laude from Colorado Women’s College in Denver, Colorado.

Sylvia met Simon, the love of her life in 1956 while both were attending Drake College in New Brunswick, New Jersey. They were married in 1958 and shared 65 glorious years together. During their early years they resided in Manville, Whitehouse Station and Flemington, New Jersey and in Dalton, Georgia. In 1972 they relocated to Denver, Colorado to the Johns Manville General Headquarters. They built a house in Cherry Hills Village where they resided for 52 years.

Sylvia worked for Johns Manville Corporation, in various positions for 25 years. At the time of her retirement in 1981 she was a Financial Analyst. She was also a member of the Johns Manville Quarter Century Club.

She began a second career as an Office Manager in the Denver oil industry for an individual investor dba Taurus, LTD, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She fully retired in 2006.

Sylvia enjoyed sewing, reading, walking with friends, traveling with her husband, swimming at the YMCA, going on picnics, enjoying concerts, and attending lectures at Denver University’s Academy of Lifelong Learning.

She was an avid gardener growing many types of vegetables, but she especially loved to grow beautiful roses, her favorite flower. She was a wonderful cook and made the most amazing Lemon Meringue Pie.

Sylvia was so proud to be a member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Episcopal Church and attended their weekly Bible Study Group and Sunday mass. She made so many wonderful and caring friends and they were by her side continually. The family is so grateful to Father Chris, Pastor Barb and all the lovely ladies who prayed with and for her. She will be missed very much by her loving family and all of her dear friends. They all described her as a lovely, caring person and they were so happy to call her friend.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, May 16th at St. Gabriel the Archangel Episcopal Church, 6190 E. Quincy Avenue, Englewood, Colorado. All family and friends are invited to attend.  Family will have a private gathering at Fort Logan National Cemetery where Sylvia will be laid to rest with her beloved Simon.  

The family wishes to thank the amazing caregivers at AdventHealth Hospice for their outstanding care and compassion they provided to Sylvia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to St. Gabriel the Archangel Episcopal Church.
