Susan Cooper Large, 89, of Lancaster passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, surrounded by family. Born in York, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Fred N. Cooper and Mary Landis Groff Cooper. A graduate of McCaskey High School, Sue received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from York College, and served as a social worker for the County of York for 15 years. She was artistic, and enjoyed creating decoupage works and intricate village scene shadow boxes. Sue was an avid card player and reader. She loved art and music, animals and nature. She was a sweet and kind person whose memory will be cherished by many. Sue was an active member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Lancaster, Pennsylvania before moving to Colorado in 2022 to be closer to family.
Sue will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters, three grandsons, and one great-grandson: Susan Large of Morgan Utah; Sally Stump (Matt) of Littleton Colorado; Julie Marshall (Dan) of Memphis Tennessee; Ben Stump (Katie) Broomfield Colorado; Gabe Stump (Michelle) New York City, New York; Forrest Sable (Frances) Memphis Tennessee; Atlas Brewer-Stump Broomfield Colorado. Sue is also survived by and will be deeply missed by her longtime companion, Harold Fulmer of Lancaster Pennsylvania. Sue was preceded in death by her husband Donald Clendening Large (1998), her twin sister Sara Cooper Reinbold (2014), and her brother, Fred N. Cooper (2004).
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Life Celebration Service at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 3131 Columbia Avenue, Lancaster Pennsylvania 17603 on May 16, 2026 at 11 AM. The Reverend Gretchen Iorien officiating. Interment is at Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MorningStar Assisted Living, attn Tracie Roberts 5344 S. Kipling Pkwy, Littleton CO 80127. Please note "staff appreciation Sue Large" on memo.
