Susan Kay “Suz” Cechini, 76, of Cañon City, Colorado, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Susan will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and warm spirit that touched everyone who knew her.
Born on August 24, 1949, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Susan grew up with a strong sense of responsibility and compassion that guided her throughout life. Early in her career, she pursued nursing, dedicating herself to caring for others. In August 1985, Susan and her husband, Dan, launched their family company—a business that continues to thrive over 40 years later. Within that endeavor, Susan proudly served as the company’s “morale officer,” a title that perfectly captured her gift for uplifting others and keeping spirits high.
Dan and Susan shared nearly 60 beautiful years together, building a family that was the heart of her world. She was the proud mother of five children—Cyndy Ryan, Randy Cechini, Chad Cechini, Todd Cechini, and Tracy Dibonas — and cherished grandmother to 15 grandchildren and great-grandmother to six. Her greatest achievement, by her own measure, was her family.
Susan’s positivity, integrity, and honesty shaped her every interaction with others. Known as a “good finder,” she saw the best in people and encouraged them to see it too. She often would say “tell me something good”. She loved reading, strong political discussions, and long games of rummy with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling by motor home when she was able. She always admired the majesty of the Colorado mountains and that brought her deep joy. Sundance Ranch was her favorite place on earth and will be her final resting place. Her faith in God was strong. At the end, she said she was not afraid to go because she had Jesus Christ in her life.
Those who knew Susan will forever remember her favorite philosophy and guiding truth: “Life Works.”
