Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Steve lived a life full of quiet strength, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, carrying with him a spirit of courage and commitment that he passed down to his children and grandchildren.
He married the love of his life, Debbie. Married for sixty years, together they built a life grounded in love, laughter, and deep family roots. They raised three children and later welcomed seven grandchildren, who became the center of his world. Known lovingly as "PaPa", he lived for his grandkids-- whether it was cheering from the stands at their games and concerts, taking them to Colorado Rockies baseball games, or simply spending time together. Every moment with them was a gift he never took for granted. A true outdoorsman at heart, he loved hunting and fishing, and found peace in nature. He was a loyal Nebraska football fan and a devoted Rockies and Avalanche supporter. His faithful dogs were never far from his side, joining him on walks, rides, and everyday adventures. They were more than pets--they were family.
What truly set him apart was his kind heart. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, and he made everyone feel like a friend. He lived his faith quietly but deeply, always guided by love, humility, and gratitude. He was a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend-- loved by so many. He leave behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and warmth that will continue to live on in each of us who were lucky enough to know him. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing he is at peace. His memory will forever be a blessing. He will be missed beyond words, but always in our hearts.
He leaves behind his wife, Debbie, three children (Jennifer Inay, Kathy (Doug) Show, and Tim Johnson), grandchildren (Noelle, Noah, Tyler, Cameron, Kyra, Erica, and Tyson), his beloved dogs (Max, Daisy, and Zorro), and many friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
