Stephen F. Husher, 78, of Aurora, CO passed away on January 8th 2026 in Denver, CO. He is preceded by his oldest son Stephen Jr. and survived by his wife, Patricia, son, Edward, daughter, Elizabeth and daughter-in-law, Katie, widow of Stephen Jr. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Stephen was born on January 14, 1947 in Sikeston, MO. He spent his early years in St. Louis, MO where he met his future wife Patricia. They married on August 2, 1969. He joined the US Air Force in 1968 and served faithfully for 20 years, retiring in 1988 at the rank of captain. His Air Force career took them many places in the United States and even to Germany.
Stephen and Patricia had three children together. Stephen Jr was born in 1970 in Missouri, Edward was born in 1973 in Arizona and Elizabeth was born in 1979 in Germany.
Stephen touched many lives in his career as an operating room nurse in both the United States Air Force and at many hospitals. He also worked as a traveling nurse helping hospitals when they were short-staffed and taught medical assistant courses at Concord Career College. He taught Sunday school and worked with his sons in the boy scouts, where he was a scout leader. While stationed in Germany at Lindsey Air Station, he started and coached a soccer program that both of his sons participated. He volunteered at the Denver Natural History Museum as part of their Operation Health exhibit.
Stephen loved a good bad joke and making others laugh but as long as he laughed, it worked. He loved to read and watch movies and in his younger years, he loved to volksmarch and bowl. Some of his favorite stories were the adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle and an English soldier Richard Sharpe by Bernard Cornwell.
Stephen will be buried at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO on January 26, 2026.
