Stephen Vincent Bailey

Stephen Vincent Bailey, age 77, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on November 5, 2025. Born in Washington, D.C., Stephen was the eldest of six children of Arthur W. Bailey and Mary C. Bailey. From an early age, he carried a deep sense of responsibility, compassion, and service-qualities that defined his entire life.

Stephen was drafted into the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, where he served honorably for two years as a Navy Corpsman aboard the USS Kennedy. His experiences caring for fellow service members solidified his lifelong dedication to helping others.

After returning home, Stephen pursued his passion for medicine and public service, graduating from Johns Hopkins University as part of the first-ever graduating class of its Physician Assistant program. As a pioneer in a field that was just beginning, he helped shape the profession into what it has become today.

He later moved to Colorado, where he joined Denver Health's medical system as one of the earliest Physician Assistants not only in the system but in the state. During his 35-year career there, he devoted himself to serving underserved communities with skill, humility, and unwavering empathy. While in Colorado, he also earned an MBA from Regis University, further equipping him to lead and innovate in healthcare. His work left a lasting impact on countless colleagues, patients, and families.

Stephen was a proud and devoted father of three children-Sarah, Samantha, and Scott-and the beloved grandfather of five granddaughters, whom he cherished deeply. In retirement, he settled in Florida, where he enjoyed the sunshine, the ocean, and the warm weather he had always loved.

He will be laid to rest with full honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery.

Stephen's legacy lives on through the many lives he touched-with kindness, dedication, and a heart committed to service.
