Stanley Edson Gordon passed from this world on February 23, 2015.Stan was born on October 9, 1931 in Atlantic, Cass County, Iowa to Eleanor E. and Floyd T. Gordon. He is survived by his wife Theresa A. Gordon and his five children and their spouses – Michael and Sandy Gordon, Bernadette and Roger Simpson, Jennifer and Steve Gordon, John and Julie Gordon, and Julie and Robert Warner. His grandchildren Robin (Jami), Stanley, Sarah, Joshua, Christian (Mia), Ryan, Daniel, Cayleigh, Ashley (Marcel), Taylor and Lauren; and great grandchildren Trevor, Macy and Kevin. Graduating from Golden High School in Golden, CO in 1949, Stan volunteered to serve his country in the Army Air Corp and served as a Military Policeman in Korea during the Korean War. He returned from Korea and began to build a life. Apprenticing and becoming a Master Electrician. Owning and running Scott Brothers Electric, Selling commercial real estate, ranches and developing properties. Stan's great and deep loves filled his life. He was a Charter Season ticket Holder for the Bronco's, He loved to fish and camp especially on the Illinois River near Rand, taking his family on innumerable camping trips. He deeply loved the mountains – whether he was fly fishing for trout, camping, or just looking at them. They gave him great comfort and solace. He loved to dance, play tennis, and ski. Stan was a cowboy at heart. He was as comfortable in jeans and ranch clothes as he was in his business clothes. He enjoyed mentoring people. Teaching them the ropes – how to run a business, how to deal with people, and who to build relationships with. That, working hard, staying dedicated and paying attention to the details would ensure success. He learned self-reliance at an early age and always expected the best from himself and others whether you were in business, part of the family or a friend. Stan kept his standards high. He traveled and explored – Back packing in Alaska – taking the inside passage to Juno. Exploring his Scottish heritage and visiting the 14 th century castle that was a gift to Clan Gordon. Proud to be a Gordon, proud to discover the rich heritage of his family and the rich culture of being a Scotsman. He embraced education and never stopped learning. In 1995 he graduated from Regis University with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance. He was a Member of NECA (National Electrical Contractors Association) and was a longtime member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Castle Rock. Stan Gordon will be missed by so many. So many lives that he touched through the years as a father, husband, grandfather, and friend. He enriched many lives and built a community of friends, family, and business associates. Growing up in the depression he learned to be thrifty, self-reliant, and dedicated. And from those qualities he left a legacy that is rich, generous, and loyal.
