Stacey Glymin Javazon, age 54, of Denver, Colorado, passed away on June 16, 2024. She was born March 4, 1970, to William Jr. and Betty Ogleton, in Liberia. After her parents returned to the United States, they divorced and she lived in Los Angeles, California, with her mother, known as Toni by family and friends. In 1977, her mother married Derick Glymin and a few years later Derick legally gave Stacey his surname. Her brother, Dzifa, was born in 1978. After they moved to Englewood (now Centennial), Colorado, her sister, Dela, was born in 1981. She was a wonderful big sister, loved playing with them, and teaching them things.
Stacey grew up in a nice suburban neighborhood. She got involved with dance club and theater in high school and quickly showed her talent as a choreographer, as well as her gift for singing and dancing. She made life-long friends and her love of theater and dance remained with her throughout her life. Shortly after she graduated from Cherry Creek High School in 1988, she discovered Magic Moments Inc, a non-profit organization that provides an opportunity for children and adults of all ages, levels of experience, and physical and mental abilities to experience the joy of dance and theater. She helped turn their productions into magical experiences for the performers as well as the audience. Her choreography was creative, and she inspired everyone not only to work hard, but also to be free to show themselves in their performances. Her years of work with Magic Moments was a joy for her and when health problems made it come to an end, she was very sad.
Stacey was an excellent writer and she decided to make it her profession. She attended Metropolitan State College and studied journalism and marketing. For 3 years she worked for Colorado Parent Magazine as Senior Editor and Events/PR Director. She worked for Business Finance magazine for 6 years as E-Newsletter Editor and Product Manager, and then Great West Healthcare (now part of CIGNA) for 3 years as Senior Marketing Specialist. Her career was going well until chronic pain from neck and back problems limited her physical activities including sitting for long periods working on a computer.
In 2001, she married Anthony Javazon, and in 2002, their son, Quintin, was born. She loved being a mother, and he was the center of her life. The marriage ended in divorce in 2007, but they successfully shared custody equally. He grew up knowing he was unconditionally loved by both parents.
Stacey is survived by her son, Quintin; her parents, Derick (he passed away shortly after her death) and Toni Glymin; brother, Dzifa (Katie) Glymin; sister, Dela (Atli) Steinthorsson; 3 nephews, and 1 niece.
