Sonja Kay McDowell

Sonja Kay McDowell, age 61, passed away quietly at Littleton Adventist Hospital in the early morning of July 12, 2023.  Born July 14, 1961 in Eufaula, Alabama, she was a graduate of Cairo High School, was married, and became the loving mother of Colton Daughtry (deceased).  Sonja was also preceded in death by both her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sancel McDowell and her sister, Lana McDowell White.  She is survived by her devoted life partner Philip Anderson and her sister Julia Marie Akins.  

Sonja loved animals and was always saddened to see them abused or mistreated.  Those wishing to preserve her passion should make a gift to your local animal shelter or a national charity dedicated to improving animal welfare of your choice in her honor.  Also consider adopting your next pet from your local animal shelter or pet rescue organization and give an animal a forever home.
