Sidney Harold Anderson

Sidney Harold Anderson, 96, of Parker, Colorado, passed away November 18, 2015. He was born January 24, 1919, in Duluth, Minnesota to Fred Adolph and Mildred Hazel Blomberg Anderson. Sid was a navy veteran of World War II where he served on the deck of an aircraft carrier in the Atlantic that was primarily training pilots. His career was as a machinist, designer and inventor. He worked for an aerospace division of General Mills and Litton Industries and at Scientific Apparatus at the University of Minnesota. He was the assembly foreman of the world's first manned deep sea submersible - named Alvin, which went on to be the vessel that first descended to the Titanic wreck. Sid was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the lakes and woods of Minnesota. He lived in Denver 21 years. Sid was married to his beloved wife, Dorothy for 71 years. He is survived by Dorothy; two sons, Brian and Ward Anderson; daughter, Barbara Anderson Tobler; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Sid will be held at 11:00am, on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 8150 South Colorado Blvd., Centennial, CO 80122. A viewing will be held at the Church from 10-10:45am. Burial with Military Honors will be at 1:00pm, Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, Shelter 'A'. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Denver Hospice or the Humanitarian Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
