Shirley Vranek

Shirley Jane Cadman Vranek, a Denver resident for over fifty years, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2022 in Littleton, Colorado at the age of 92.  She was born on February 26, 1930 in Hammond, Indiana to Russell James Cadman and Irma Cedergren Cadman.

While attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, she met her future husband, Lee R. Vranek, who became an insurance executive. They married in 1950 and raised their four children in Oak Brook, Illinois. In 1972, they relocated to Cherry Hills, Colorado.

In her professional life, from 1977 to 1990, Shirley was a regional office manager for AMP Incorporated, an electronics company in Greenwood Village, Colorado.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed playing bridge, was an avid golfer competing in several ladies' leagues, loved gardening, the arts and theater. Always engaged in her community, she volunteered in a variety of charitable organizations. She was a member of the Women's Library Association at the University of Denver for over ten years and, for a short time, conducted tours for the Museum of Outdoor Arts in Greenwood Plaza.

Shirley travelled extensively throughout North America, Europe, Africa, among several island destinations, and had a special fondness for Italy. She marveled at the museums and architecture of every European capital city she visited.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Lee, her sister Joyce Erfft, and is survived by her son Kyle Vranek and his wife Kathy of Highlands Ranch, CO; son Gregg Vranek of Murray, UT; daughter Karen Vranek of Atlanta, GA; son Jeff Vranek and his wife Rose Ann of Highlands Ranch, CO; and grandson Jason Vranek of Golden, CO.

She will be remembered by her loving family and friends for her sense of adventure, good humor, and gentle grace. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation to their favorite charity.
