Shirley Nadine Naulls passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025 in Denver, Colorado, at the age of 90, in the company of her sister Marjorie Hurst and niece Tracey Hall. She was born December 13, 1934 in Syracuse Kansas, to Edna and Clyde Jones.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Naulls, her parents, her brother Ron Jones (Jean), and her sisters Darla Jean Wilson (Johnny) and Kay Hurst (Steve). She will be carried forward in living memory through her sons Keith (Linda) and Kirk and her devoted grandchildren Lauren (Gina) and Devon as well as her sister Marjorie Hurst (Ted). Her extended family includes nieces Shelly Goldhurst (John), Sheri Hurst, Stephany Hurst, Carrol Rhead, Tracey Hall, (Keith), Darcy Jones Austin, Marlyse Knight and nephews Scott and Randy Hurst, Darrel Wilson and Tim Jones and their children.
Shirley grew up on a horse and sheep farm in Syracuse, Kansas. She and her siblings helped her parents with the hard work required in daily life but they all enjoyed life together. Shirley shared many happy memories of those early days on the farm and going up in a rural Kansas town with her children and grandchildren. Although Syracuse was a wonderful place to grow up, Shirley always wanted more. Eventually the bigger adventures she wanted took her to Denver, Colorado, where she pursued both school at Emily Griffiths Opportunity College and work as a seamstress. In Denver, Shirley met her husband Ray, and finally agreed to go out with him after much persuasion on his part. Thankfully she did agree, and the result was a loving marriage that lasted 58 years. Their family became complete with the birth of two sons - Keith - born in November of 1961 and Kirk - born in November of 1963. Many of the Jones family also made their way to Denver, and Shirley experienced her greatest joys in spending time over the years with her siblings and caring for her growing family.
Shirley was a faithful member of the Methodist Church throughout her life. She and Ray were dedicated members of the Park Hill United Methodist Church family and they lived by a strong set of values and morals, which they imparted to their family and which continue to be reflected in how her family lives today. She took pride in the life she crafted for herself and her family and she was a valued member of her community. Shirley enjoyed travel and explored many places in the world, from the bright lights of Las Vegas to the ancient splendor of China and the beauty of France. She was deeply loyal to those she loved, unwavering in her sense of self and full of a unique sense of humor that delighted those she shared it with. She remains an example of a life fully lived and is deeply loved by her family and friends.
