Sherry Lee (Vickens) Gerstenkorn, born October 15, 1944, passed away in the comfort of her home on August 27, 2026, at the age of 81, with her husband and daughters by her side.

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana and moved to Southern California with her mother, Clara Ambler, at a young age. She graduated from Downey High School in the class of 1962. She married the love of her life, Mike Gerstenkorn in 1963 where they built a family with three children.

Sherry lived an enriched and fulfilling life. Throughout her career, she held a variety of positions, always bringing dedication, professionalism, and positive attitude to everything she did. Her most rewarding accomplishment was her, very happy, more than 20-year career in event management at the Colorado Convention Center, where she was often referred to as “mom”, which she loved.

She was known for her generous heart, positive spirit and welcoming nature. Sherry was a wonderful cook, which was her hobby, and had a gift for making others feel valued and appreciated. A person commented: “She was sweet, feisty and funny all in one breath”. Her laughter, compassion and genuine interest in those around her left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate to know her. She had two dear friends from the seventh grade to the end.

One of her passions was for babies and kids. She couldn’t avoid having a chat with them.

Sherry is survived by her husband of 63 years; daughters, LeeAnn Underwood and Laura Jo Glickman and granddaughter Alexa Underwood, brothers Brent and Russell Gaston and an aunt, cousins and nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by son, Michael Steven (Steve), who passed in 1982 at age of 16 and her mother Clara (Ambler) Gaston.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 24, 2026 at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Lakewood, Colorado at 1:00 PM. If you are unable to attend, the service will be Live Streamed; internment will be Friday the 23th at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colorado at 2:00 PM.
