SHAUNA MARIE BARROW

 July 13, 1970 – November 24, 2024

Shauna Marie Barrow died at age 54 in her home in Arvada, Colorado, on November 24, 2024 following a sudden severe illness.

Shauna was born at (then) Denver General Hospital in Denver, Colorado, on July 13, 1970. Her mother and father were graduate students at the University of Wyoming. For the first three months of her life, she was cared for in a loving foster home in Cheyenne where she was treasured. Then she was adopted into her permanent family with parents Bill and Bobbi Barrow, brother Paul, big ol’ affectionate German Shepherd Luther, and Portia the cat. Later, when she was five, a younger brother Michael joined the family. The Barrows lived in Colorado Springs, Salt Lake City, Northglenn and Denver.

Shauna was an easy-going cheerful baby and child, bright and lively. She famously, at age two, toddled over to a parked car in the neighborhood and, with the license plate at eye level, loudly read the letters and numbers to the astonishment of the families gathered nearby. She was an early Sesame Street devotee, and during all her younger years, was constantly singing and dancing through pre-school and grade school--even in grocery store aisles where she would spot a product and sing the commercial.

She attended Phillips Elementary School in Denver, then Smiley and Gove, and finally Manual High School, which shared classes with East. Always an actress and singer, she was in many school plays, with proud parents always in the audience. After graduation in 1992, Shauna went to the University of Colorado at Boulder, but left there prior to completing her degree to join a musical band that traveled and performed throughout the country. When she returned to Colorado, she opened a retail store in Louisville called The Light Connection. After a few years of success in retail, she began providing advice and counsel to persons by phone, connecting through a web site. Shauna loved theatre productions of all kinds, especially Broadway plays, music, and long walks, with a special fondness for the route around Sloan’s Lake.

Shauna, who had a strong faith in God, was preceded in death by her father, Bill Barrow, and brother, Michael. She is survived by her mother, Bobbi and brother Paul, and niece and nephew Anna and Charlie Barrow.

A celebration of life will be planned in February, 2025, with details to be announced.
