Honoring a Life Well Lived

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon Kay Struss, who left us on May 13th, 2025, at the age of 84. Sharon was born on January 2, 1941, in Waubay, South Dakota and spent her life enriching the lives of others with her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love.

Sharon grew up and attended school in Waubay, SD, winning the county spelling bee when she was 7 and 8 years old and graduating as Salutatorian in 1958. She attended 1 ½ years of a 3-year RN nursing program at Northwestern hospital in Minneapolis.

Sharon became a Medical Transcriptionist and worked at many hospital and clinic locations throughout her career in the Twin Cities, retiring from MN Oncology Hematology in December 2010.

Sharon was married to Delvin Dale Struss from 1964 to 1983. She was a devoted mom to Susan Kay (Struss) Van Wyck and was cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be remembered most for her sweet personality and all her personal notes, letters and correspondence that kept our family and friends connected with each other.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Alice (Knapp) Tesch, Niece/Goddaughter Paula Peschke and Nephew/Godson John Hansmann who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms. She is survived by her siblings Sandy Hansmann, Faye (Jack) Peschke, and Jim (Lois) Tesch, her daughter Susan (Bob) Van Wyck, granddaughters Stefanie Van Wyck and Robbin (Brandon) Korlin along with many nieces and nephews who will carry her love for them in their hearts.

A celebration of life will be held in Minnesota with a date to still be determined. All will be welcome to remember Sharon's life and share special memories.

Sharon, may you rest in peace knowing the enduring love and gratitude of those whose lives you touched. You will be deeply missed but remain forever in our hearts.
