Sharon Mary Severance

July 4, 1939 — November 21, 2023

Aurora

Sharon Mary Helen Severance, age 84, died on Nov. 21, 2023.  She attended Little Flower Grade School in Indianapolis, Indiana, graduated from Scecina Memorial High School, and continued on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Homemaking from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.  Later in her life she was a graduate of Catholic Biblical School in Denver and she was most proud of this specific academic accomplishment.

In 1972, Sharon was introduced to Leigh Severance at a football game in Buffalo, New York.  The pair met on a blind date by two prominent figures in each of their lives.  By 1974, Sharon and Leigh married and moved to Colorado where she built a new life with Leigh and her three children from a previous marriage and their newborn baby girl.

Throughout her life, Sharon loved weekly doubles tennis matches, bridge games with her friends, helped in leading the religious education ministry at her Catholic parish in Denver and enthusiastically watched college football every weekend—particularly her fondness rooting for Notre Dame, and a passionate fan of the Colorado Rockies.  She also greatly enjoyed old Western movies.

Sharon’s greatest values in her life resided with her unwavering Faith, and her commitment and loyalty to her family.  Family meant everything to her.  How she conducted her life spoke volumes of her Faith and Spirituality and made lasting impressions not only on family members, but close friends as well.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Leigh, daughters, Chris DeVoss (husband, Jeff DeVoss) and Emily Childers.  Sharon is also survived by brother, Robert Early, sister-in-laws Gail Early and Cynthia Early, six nieces, seven nephews and several cousins.  Lastly, she is survived by her eight grandchildren and three great children.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Helen Early, her brother, Thomas Early, her nieces, Jill Early and Alison A. Early, and her three beloved sons, Joseph M. Kulbacki, Thomas J. Kulbacki, and Robert A. Kulbacki.
