Sharon died on December 23, 2014, at age 71, in Denver, Colorado, after a 50-year struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at home, surrounded by her husband, Robert J. ""Bob"" Sanderman, and her daughters, Susan, Sarah, and Shelley. Sharon was born on February 17, 1943, in Edmonton, Alberta, to Edward and Mary Roy. She and Bob were married in Edmonton on June 4, 1966, having begun their lifelong devotion to each other years earlier as high-school sweethearts. Sharon graduated from the Royal Alexandra Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. During that time, she enjoyed primarily working with orthopedic patients. In 1971, Sharon retired from nursing to start a family and devoted herself to raising her daughters. Sharon and Bob settled permanently in Denver in 1986, having previously lived in Edmonton, Alberta; Berkeley, California; London, England; Louisville, Kentucky; and Toronto, Ontario. The family will hold a private ceremony celebrating her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sharon's name to Halcyon Hospice Care, P.O. Box 1777, Mead, Colorado, 80542.
