“When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple…”
Sharon Ann Carver Dean passed away Tuesday, December 22nd at the age of 78. She was born to Vern and Dorothy Carver.
Sharon grew up on a farm in and around Cloud County Kansas. She attended the Meredith one room schoolhouse in Concordia District #9 from which she graduated in 1956. She went on to graduate from Miltonvale High School in 1960. She was active in 4H and worked at the Trail Riders Cafe. She received a Union Pacific Railroad Scholarship to attend Kansas State University, where she graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. She married James B. Dean on September 1, 1962 in Miltonvale, Kansas. She also attended Harvard Junior College during a short time in Boston. The couple relocated to the Denver area in 1965. They divorced in 1990.
Sharon worked as a travel agent for Carlson Wagonlit Travel, and served as a docent at the Denver Art Museum. She was an admirer of African Art and an avid traveler. She took great joy in spending time with her family, attending book club and painting. Sharon loved the Kansas countryside, the Colorado outdoors, taking long walks, listening to music, and gardening. She is remembered as a kind person who was loved by many.
Sharon joins her parents Vern and Dorothy Carver and leaves behind her brother James Carver, sister Diane Carver McKain (husband Gary), and brother David Carver (wife Jenna). She also leaves her daughter, Cyndi Vosburgh (husband Craig) and son James M. Dean (wife Elizabeth). Her grandchildren, Brock Vosburgh, Zach Vosburgh (wife MaryBethe), Gretchen Vosburgh and her great-grandchild Liliana Vosburgh also mourn her loss.
Due to the pandemic restrictions a celebration service will be held in Delphos, Kansas later in 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the National Aphasia Association at (www.aphasia.org) or the Denver Art Museum (www.denverartmuseum.org).
