Shari Cummings

Shari Louise Cummings, age 75, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2021, in her home in Denver, Colorado, surrounded by her loving family and pets.  A celebration of her life will be held at a future date.

Shari is remembered by family and friends as a truly loving, selfless person, who cared about her loved ones deeply. Her daughter remembers her as the strongest woman she’s ever known, who gave her all of the tools to be a successful and happy person. A person who connected deeply with others, Shari will be greatly missed.

Shari is survived by her daughter, Tawni, her grandchildren, Zoe and Zach, her brother, Terry, her dear cousins, Reen, Vickie and Crystal, her aunt, Coney, and her faithful companion, her rescue chihuahua, Pepper.  Her beloved husband, Barry, passed away far too early in 2008. Her parents, Betty and Grendell Hawes, passed away in 2015 and 2018, respectively.

Shari’s life took her on many journeys. She was born in Pyote, Texas, and moved many times as the daughter of a career Air Force Master Sargent.  She attended high school at George Washington High School in Denver, Colorado, while her father was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base. Shari lived in many locations, making life-long friendships along the way in Colorado, Washington, California, South Korea, Arizona, Michigan, and Connecticut. Shari and Barry loved to travel, and spent time vacationing all over Europe.

Shari touched the lives of so many people over the course of her life. She is remembered for her laughter, giving nature, deep love of her friends and family, and her zest for life. She loved all things involving make-up, nails and hair. She loved old movies (especially Westerns), Country Music, following the celebrity scene, cooking for her family, maintaining a beautiful home, hot rods, and Benihana Japanese restaurant.

Charitable contributions can be made in Shari’s honor to The Denver Dumb Friends League.
