Scott Douglas Osness was born September 19, 1983 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a small baby but made up for it in his first three weeks, gaining 3 lbs., an indication of the man with big shoulders he would become. His love for the Ohio State Buckeyes came from his birthplace and the fact his Grandpa and Mom were fans. When his family moved to Colorado in 1991, he fell in love with the mountains and learned to snowboard – one of his greatest joys was carving the slopes with his friends when he was in his twenties. His talents range from cooking to music, which he loved despite an ear condition that kept him from doing some things – but always pushing the edge to do them in spite of the consequences.
Scott enjoys living life to the fullest and it always shows in his love for BBQing and smoking meats, having a beverage or two, and always sharing with anyone. Scott, a true Patriot, loves his country, and while he wore it on his sleeve (in the form of a flag tattoo) his country is deep in his heart. He loves the Ohio State Buckeyes and never was a disparaging word said of them without Scott’s retribution!
Scott was so proud of his Harley, which he bought this past year and rode it to Colorado for Mother’s Day. Even when fighting hail over Raton Pass he was so excited to be on the road with his Street Glide.
As a man, his great devotion is to his family and friends, and especially his fiancé Maria. We were all so excited to see him find a woman who he cared so deeply for, and taking such good care of her daughter Peyton who Scott “emotionally adopted” as his own.
Scott left the physical life in Chicago on May 29, 2021 doing what he loved – having fun with his best friend enjoying a trip to the Indianapolis 500.
He is loved and will be continually and forever missed by his Mom Karen and Dad Doug; brother Matt and his wife Amanda and children Ryan, Reagan, and Hannah; sister Crystal and her husband Rich and their children Elena, Noah, Nora, and Evyn; sister Brittany and her husband Derek and their children Brayden, Brooklyn, Decker, and Beckham; stepdad Mark (married to Karen), his dad’s wife Glenda; stepmom Jeanne; grandparents Dick and Nora; his favorite aunt Kim; uncle Kenny and his wife Jenn and their children Max, Maggie, and Janie; his much loved and beautiful Fiancé Maria and her children, daughter Peyton and son Christian and his two golden retrievers Buck and Bella; stepbrothers Ben and Eric Wills, and Caleb and Daniel Johnson and his wife Sarah; and stepsister Ashley Force and her husband Daniel and their son Miles. Also his friend Brandon, countless other friends, extended family, and co-workers who knew him.
He joins his grandparents Paul and Martha Clark and his first dog Jameson in heaven.
For it is certain that anyone who knows him knows what a force of love Scott is, and how he made life beautiful and fun.
Scott experienced a renewal of his faith in his adult years. When asked by his dad several years ago, “Who is Jesus to you Scott?” He replied as if it was a silly question, “Dad he’s my Lord and Savior!”
We all want five more minutes…
